Oklahoma Makes History, Wins Fourth Straight Softball Title

Sooners Defeat Texas in 2024 Women's College World Series

Norman, Okla. - June 8, 2024

The University of Oklahoma Sooners made history Thursday night, becoming the first NCAA softball team to win four straight national titles after defeating the Texas Longhorns in the 2024 Women's College World Series.

Oklahoma, which has now won a record six national championships, is the first team to win four consecutive titles since the NCAA went to a double-elimination format in 2005.

The Sooners, who were the top seed in the tournament, finished the season with a 59-3 record. They went 4-0 in the WCWS, including a 4-2 victory over Texas in Game 1 of the championship series.

"This is an incredible feeling," said Oklahoma coach Patty Gasso. "We've worked so hard for this, and it's finally paid off. This team is so special, and I'm so proud of them."

Oklahoma's victory was led by pitcher Jordy Bahl, who threw a complete game and allowed just two runs on four hits. Bahl, who was named the WCWS Most Outstanding Player, also struck out 11 batters.

"I'm just glad I could help my team win," Bahl said. "This is a dream come true."

Oklahoma's victory is a major accomplishment for the program and for the state of Oklahoma. It is also a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players and coaches.
